When starting a new project with a given client, we will agree beforehand on what completeness and correctness mean for the project. The project may then be evaluated against these criteria before it is formally approved.

The following is Nanking Translation’s Internal Translation Quality Standards of Document Translation:

Completeness: the translation must be complete, with no omissions and no parts skipped, except in the case of special instructions from the client.
Correctness: the translation must be correct, with no sections misinterpreted and no figures misrepresented.
Professionalism: professional language must be right and must accord with the normal conventions of the profession. There must be no misunderstanding of technical content.
Consistency: special expressions and technical terms should be consistent throughout.

Observance of convention: the punctuation of the translation must be correct and free of error, and there should be no orthographic mistakes. The layout should match that of the original.
Fluency: the style must be standard and correct as well as fluent, and must accord with native speaker habits of expression.
Customizability: special expressions and technical terms should comply with the usage in the glossaries or reference material supplied by the client.

Each professional translator or interpreter is well-trained and carefully screened before translating for us, and satisfying the following qualifications:

Translation Quality Assurance
Multiple quality assurance checks are performed throughout the entire translation process in order to guarantee error-free and the highest quality translations. In addition to regular QA checks such as consistency in source language and both target language, detailed to grammar, spelling, even punctuation, we systematically create a specific, customized checklist for every translation project in order to meet our clients' specific quality requirements such as terminology, style, adherence to reference material, etc.
This customized checklist is used and applied using various QA tools and procedures throughout the translation process, and is successively updated by the translator, editor, reviewer and proofreader. The customized checklists are then stored, along with the related client-specific requirements and instructions, and re-used for future projects.
Format Quality Assurance
When DTP is needed, our QA supervisor will perform a final visual validation to ensure everything in the translated document matches the source document (font type, styles, colors, placement and size of graphics, etc.).
Functional Quality Assurance
Depending on the project type, functional QA is sometimes necessary. For example, supports such as PDF, HTML, GUI (User Interfaces) and software translations require functional testing (correct display of fonts on other browsers, compatibility with OS, correct functioning of hyperlinks or bookmarks, good printing, bugs, etc.) after translation. Our QA supervisor will make sure that there are no technical issues and that the final document or support is fully functional and ready to use.

Project Analysis

1. Clients ask for quotes
2. A project manager is assigned
3. The PM will then analyze, plan, coordinate and supervise the whole translation project and keep the client updated on the project progress
4. Project Requirements Analysis including words count, subject matter, costs and time calculating, etc.
5. The PM registers the project details and set a commercial agreement with the client according to the requirements, project volume, source language and target language, difficult of translation, subject matter, costs and time calculating, etc.
